Tips for growing succulents in pots and buckets

One of the girls of our customer service took several buckets to her home, in order to decorate home. She then planted succulents in them. We can safely say that they look delicious.
Next, we look at how to grow succulents in such containers.
The first thing you need to understand what succulents actually are. Succulents cover a wide variety of plants, including aloe, kalanchoe and rejuvenated. These are plants that are characterized by succulent leaves. The most common type of succulent plants can be seen in countries with hot climates and poor soil.
When growing succulent first of all it is needed to choose a suitable container. In that case if it has no holes for drainage, it is necessary to do them on your own. You also need to put a layer of gravel on the bottom of the pot, so that excess moisture well assigned.
After that, you need to prepare the soil. Naturally, you can also buy ready-made soil for planting succulents or you can make your own one. To do this, 25% sand mix with good soil mix.
Then it is already possible to switch to the direct planting. In the case where you do not plan to move the container with the plant, it is better to fix it well, as this species grows very slowly.
If we talk about caring for succulents, they are very fond of light and the sun's rays. Of course, they also need constant moisture, because it is not a cactus. In winter, keep them on the window with the largest amount of light. So you can safely grow succulents in buckets.

What Kind of Herbs It Is Better To Grow In a Tub or Bucket

First of all it should be said that different types of herbs are the most successful variant of growing edible plants in the home. Container size is selected depending on how many plants you plan to grow. There are two options. Namely, you can use a special pot or make your own container of conventional buckets.

If you chose the second option, it is important to think about its proper drainage. In particular it is required drill apertures in the bottom of the bucket and pour 2 cm of gravel there for proper water drainage. You can then fill the container with the right soil, and then, you can plant the herbs there. Also it is necessary to place a special tray under the pot, which will pick up any excess moisture from the container at the time of watering the plants.
If you are a novice gardener, you should start with the simplest growing herbs at home.
Cultivation of Bay Tree: this plant grows very slowly. For cooking it is best to choose the Laurus nobilis. It is not required to overdry laurel tree, as it will quickly catch the scale. If this happens, you need to use normal detergent for dishes. It is recommended to wash leaves of the plant with it.
Cultivation of Chive: in this case it is best to give preference Grolau. It is easy to grow Chive indoors, since it does not require a lot of sunlight.
Cultivation of lemongrass: lemongrass does not require soil. In that situation, when you buy a sapling on the market or the grocery store, it can be just a little cut on the top and put in a glass of water. Then it will start to grow little by little. It soon let new roots and let several new stems.
Cultivation of mint: Mint is invasive species of herbs, and therefore it is very convenient to grow it at home.
Cultivation of parsley: parsley does not require a lot of sunlight, but it grows slowly and may not be able to bear fruit.

How to make nice hand-made plant pots

This year, the coming of spring was celebrated in a quite unusual way: one of Red Hill General Store customer service workers, Jenny, was so kind presenting to other women of the office something she thinks is the most convenient (but, of course, not the only thing) for planting - little metal buckets! And, to say the truth, now I share Jenny’s delight – they are really handy and turned my planting work into a joy, not to mention delightful results.
Things You can’t succeed without:
1. First of all, prepare buckets. You can use both painted in any colors or simple galvanized ones, size and tapering whatever you want. For example, the "Orhby461". Just imagine how striking it will look after few simple steps. And they are also easy to order and buy!
2. Next, prepare soil. Remember, soil should be appropriate for that specie you are transplanting. And a handy shovel, of course, because you will need one. Consider the size of plant which you are going to dig up before replanting. In Jenny’s case there were Sedum varieres and Sempervivum or hens-and-chicks.
Now, let’s begin!
Carefully punch tiny holes using hammer and nails (watch out for your fingers!). Holes on the underside are to drain water preventing waterlogging of the roots. As it can be hard for someone punching the good thing, especially if it s made of metal, 3 or 5 holes will be enough. Then, move to digging up the plant from it’s old place and, cautiously holding the chosen plant, put it into the bucket, place as close to the center of inner space and start filling around with prepared soil.
Congratulations, we’ve done it! Clean your hands and enjoy the results. Plants in such pots (actually, buckets) need water rarely when keeping outside (according to Jenny’s words and other also confirm it).
Below there is Sedum (also known as Autumn Joy or stonecrop), its bright buds looks amazing with a shiny metal background. As for tender pancies( or Johnny Jump-ups), they are also cute and a good choice for being presented to someone.

Container gardens always looks wonderful and delight your soul. They coerce you notice the details and feel perfect scents. There are some advices how to pot up gems.

1.Choose a Pot

First of all will be better to pick the flowerpot before you resolve what to plant in it. It will be nice to chose a style that conform your home. If you have got stone patios or you want to flanking the front entrance of your house its better to choose classical urns. Use vivid colors to attract attention to the flowerpots and use quiet neutral colors to make accent on the plants.

Want to group pots? Choose an odd number of flowerpots. When you picking pots there are also practical troubles. You should found containers, which will be about 12 inches wide, if you wish to mix plants. About 8 inches of earth depth need for annuals, but shrubs and grasses may need about three times that amount. Perfect container have got straight sides.

You can set pots on a rooftop or a deck, so you must find lightweight materials (composite or metal). You must to know, that glazed ceramic pots can keep earth moister. Porous terra-cotta unglazed let earth to dry out more quickly.

Of course, pot needs drainage holes, they help roots don't be waterlogged. They must be covered with earthenware shards, stones to keep earth from migrating out. If containers situated on a wooden deck, you can use pot feet or a plant pedestal to raise them, because decking does not stay damp (if you do not need in rot).

Different DIY cleaners

I had been trying different DIY cleaners during the last years. Finally, having tried almost everything, I drew a conclusion of their use and effect. But they also were quite expensive and it took me time to get to the store and buy them.

So now I want to give you some recipes of soaps, cleaners and softeners that will no yield to ones in shops, but will also safe your money, time and health of your family!

The following mixture will help you with your supplies:

Take distilled white vinegar, dawn dish soap, rubbing alcohol, olive oil and some spray bottles. Make a mix of equal vinegar and water parts, 1 tablespoon of alcohol and a tiny quantity of dawn soap and clean almost everything!

Vinegar and soap are rather cheap; such cleaner fights the grease and makes no streaks on windows or mirrors. It's not the only variant - you can find numerous like that around that will fit you the best.

For bathroom and shower take 2 cups of vinegar(hot) and 6 tablespoons of dawn soap. Instructions are the same: just mix and use! Some soda(for baking) can be put into toilet and tub after cleaning to make an effect stronger.

Mix 2 cups of vinegar and 1 cup of olive oil to prepare a polish for furniture. But in this case you will need to make a small quantity of it every time of using.

If you're satisfied with the cleaners, but still need something - make your mixture smell! Just put some vinegar and citrus fruits rinds(lemons or oranges) into jars, wait for 3 or 4 weeks and then use it while making cleaners!
